Thanks for the kind words, Diana.

That is precisely the reason, why we have to do more than just be aware or spread the word. I am forming a team to put the website together, and soon will start promoting and doing all I can, to make it a possibility.

I do not know, if the concept is right or wrong. Only time will tell.

I have always adored Honey fr d person she is n nw I adore U fr UR thoughts. God bless U both with love n happiness.

As far as this show is concerned, do we need an Aamir Khan to make us realise the evil of female foeticide in our society? Why can't the society just act if it sees something wrong happening with someone?

In the context of Odisha, how many of Us actually remember the skeletal remains of hundreds new born gals that were found from drains, manholes close by to sex-determination clinics running illegally in Nayagarh? just a week later, the same was found packed in polythene from a heap of garbage in Central station area in Bangalore. I saw the polythene bags coz I happened to be in Banaglore then. Although Nayagarh incident created much furore, nothing much was done than just suspending the errant docs n shutting own the clinics. Now, things r back to square one, if not so rampantly but definitely sex determination and subsequent killing is happening.

Am sure next Sunday, many will b glued to the TV sets sharp at 11 to watch yet another issue unfold, with female foeticide completely erased out of their minds. The process will continue.

Brilliant thought Rashmi! I am so happy that you gave it a good thought and you have actually come up with something really good. I would love to volunteer for the same and help in whatever way possible.
Even I, although I am only 22, I wouldn't be more happier if I become a father to a beautiful daughter.

And I seriously have no words for you. You are indeed a very good man, cheers to your initiative to adopt a girl child! God Bless You, always!

I have seen a lot of people who go through books physically in Landmark, Crossword...then go home and buy it from Flipkart or some other online stores. I guess your hybrid model should hit that sweet spot between offline and online market.

@bigdatanerd ... Thanks for the link. I believe e-commerce has evolved from catalog retailing itself. And yes, a model followed by Argos is quite similar to what I think should be used by Indian companies. Although it might have to implemented in a bit different fashion.

@Shyam thanks for the link to the store. I will go and check it when I am in that side of the town.

Mobile Apps have even a lower penetration than Internet at this point of time. Combined with credit card, online transaction and Indian buying behaviour, I do not believe it will attain main stream, or give enough ROI. A format has to evolve to make offline more effective and slowly change the buying habit of the consumers.

There is a model of an offline retail outlet selling online custom made attire for men called My Smart Shop, that I spotted at Banashankari 3rd Stage, 3-4 months back.
If a man walks into the store, he has the sample of the cloth to touch and feel, however to order he has to use the desktop touch screen computers to choose size, preferred pattern, design, color and fitting of the shirt/trouser he likes from the range enlisted (and he has touched the samples to feel the qualities of the material), and place the order. The order once ready to wear will come to the store near you. You can personally go and collect your order by paying right there or get it delivered with cash on delivery option.

However, the pricing point of view suggested by you seems a great way to shift people to be comfortable with online purchases. The challenge was security, which seemed to find a solution in cash on delivery.

What I find more appropriate today is having all this on a mobile app, speeding up the intent to delivery via ready to fit/stitch and having an option to choose a designer/brand fit that the buyer prefers. The advance pickup (of cash or card) on order confirmation (via phone call) option could always be used to reduce the security and non-payment hassles.

What do you thin about this?

I think what you suggest is Catalogue retailing. Argos doing it pretty good in UK. Few companies in India tried that before but not successful. May be online shopping was not booming at that time.
here is a good presentation on it. But I can see the buying mind set of Indian customers changing.
