These is primarily for the ad networks and the way they work.
The sponsored search ads, facebook ads, etc are still not getting by passed coz they are a part of the content. Any external HTML or Javascript content might be getting blocked.
The major websites can not go for browser specific because this is a user's choice and not just a choice of the browsers. Until these websites have come across some other workout, the browsers will not make it a part of their release.

It is time that web 2.0 stops thinking of earning revenue through ads. And may be the signal to move to web 3.0 - an ad less internet ... just a thought

Yup .. wat u say seems a bit scary . But I have a couple of questions on this :
* These installed exe's mainly looks for key words on the browser to detect whether its AD's or normal site content - so how r gonna impliment this with out impact on the original site content ( For example all content on classified sites like craigslist or kijiji etc. appears like its AD's )
* So obviously if this model becomes a hit , AD companies will start integrating AD's which will be part of the site content inself (Ofcourse with the permission of the site owners , as its wat they also need ) . Or things will come up like "Announcements" which was popular in Facebook ( Which are originally AD's but it comes like part of the site )
* More over major website's revenue model is AD driven . If its going to be something affecting them , they will simply start ignoring the browsers tht support these EXE's , which will in turn give room for new browser market .

Whatever lets see what happens . But as you say , goos revenue models "Beyond AD's" should come up , for a more healthy internet environment and a win-win relationship :-)
